One of the best parts about buying gifts is that you get to personalize the gift that you purchase. When you’re looking to shop for someone, every aspect of the gift represents you – from the gift choice to the wrapping. That’s why customized gifts are the best! You can incorporate a theme and make the gift represent a something or some period in time that was very important to you and that person.
This is the hardest part of creating a gift basket for someone. Think about the person you’re buying for: what comes to mind? An activity, an event, or an interest should come into your mind. This will give you an idea of what theme you want to use. For example, if when you think about your friend Joe you think about his beautiful garden, then a garden theme would be perfect for his basket. Once you’ve gotten that established, you can start considering what you’ll put in your basket.
Now that you’ve chosen a theme, you can start considering what kind of container you need to support that theme. There are two factors to consider in this:
If you purchase a container that’s too large, you won’t be able to fill it. This will make the basket look empty, and that’s not the message you’re trying to get across. However, if you purchase a container that’s too small, you won’t be able to fit everything, and that will make creating your basket very complicated. Find a container that’s a fair size, but isn’t too large that you won’t be able to find enough for it. When looking into containers, take into account the ideas you have for what to put in the basket – if you’ve got lots of ideas, a larger container may be best.
You also need to consider what type of container to use. If you’re creating a basket with a movie night theme, you probably wouldn’t use a laundry basket as your container! If you go back to the Joe’s gift basket for example, an effective container could be a watering can or a planter, but I wouldn’t recommend a popcorn bowl. The popcorn bowl doesn’t really support the gardening theme, and may cause some confusion.
When choosing gift items for the basket, you should consider items that again relate to your theme. When looking for items for your basket, you should consider your price range, and the amount of stuff you’d like in the basket. These 2 factors are important because they’ll help to give you an idea of how much each item should cost you. When looking to price items, you should consider purchasing online to save some extra bucks. It’s a proven fact that online prices are cheaper than retail prices, and therefore, you can save yourself money and time wandering from store to store to find what you need! With our Joe the Gardener example, purchasing items like small garden tools, seeds, and planters are great examples of products you can buy online at less than retail prices!
